Leading up to the release of Niél's first full length album, the first single "Life so Funny" will have it's official release on the 16th of September 2024.
The song was initially inspired by a simple musical concept, dreamt up by Niél in his garage; The lyrics, vocal melody and harmony lines in the intro. It sounded like a bit of a Country-Rock sound, something like Turnpike Troubadours or Zac Brown Band would write. This in turn started serving as an inspiration for the rest of the song, making the writing process a very organic experience.
The message of the track is the notion that other people’s problems may seem small and over-stated from an outside perspective, but you wouldn’t know until you have gone through the same experience.
"As the acoustic parts formulated around the melodies and harmonies of the vocals, ideas for drums, bass, electric guitar and fiddle started developing in the back of my head. Initially I recorded drums, bass and electric guitars by myself in my home studio" says Niél.
The bass and electric guitar parts were then replaced by those recorded by Joshua Oosthuizen at Oriison Studios where the fiddle parts were also eventually tracked by David Delaney. Drums were re-recorded by Vinnie Henrico at his studio.
Final Mixing and mastering was done by Joshua Oosthuizen.
